Everybody is the third studio album by American singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson. The album was released on August 25, 2009, on Cabin 24 Records.
The first single from the album, "Maybe", was released on July 14, 2009.
Background
Originally, Michaelson wanted her album to sound close to "Once Was Love." Michaelson has stated that Everybody is "completely autobiographical, snapshots of my life." The main theme of the album, as stated by Michaelson, is "everybody wants to be loved."
"Maybe" is the first single off Ingrid Michaelson's fourth studio album, Everybody. The song was featured on the ABC medical drama Body of Proof in the episode "Society Hill", the sixth episode of the first season.
It was also used in Season 4 of the USA network show In Plain Sight in the episode "I'm a Liver, Not a Fighter," at the end of "The Glades" Season 3 Episode 2, and in a Hair Cuttery commercial.
"The Way I Am" is a song written by Ingrid Michaelson on her 2006 album Girls and Boys. It is one of her platinum hits.
Music video
The song's music video was directed by Autumn de Wilde. It depicts Michaelson dancing with a man (played by Greg Laswell, whom Michaelson would later marry) in a gymnasium where everyone present, except for Michaelson, is a clown or mime. Other dancers glare at Michaelson and she runs from the dance to a bathroom, where she uses lipstick to give her reflection the appearance of a clown nose, and then labels herself a "freak." Her dance partner, a clown, has followed her and embraces her when she emerges from the bathroom. They share a kiss and leave together.
Covers and media appearances
On September 21, 2007, Michaelson made her network television debut performing the song on Last Call with Carson Daly.
"Girls Chase Boys" is the lead single from Ingrid Michaelson's sixth studio album, Lights Out. The song peaked at number 52 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Music video
The official music video for "Girls Chase Boys" was released on February 4, 2014. It is a homage to Robert Palmer's 1988 video for "Simply Irresistible", featuring different genders in the dancer roles instead of just women.
